why you dont wonna use some online services? 

it's pretty quick and easy. Such services make a wide range of services, from red eye remover to more serious problems. I think it will be forgiven than to search for an individual.

If there is enough basic knowledge in photo editing to set it up, then I would recommend to learn this knowledge by choosing photo editing software for beginners.  I think this option will be better and more useful in the future.

I am a photographic journalist. I wrote something on Gimp and Canva.

Gimp is not very hard making amazing stuff with it. On the other side, Canva is the most intuitive photo editor ever. In 5 minutes you can create catchy images, a background.
