Some Beginner's Questions.

Question

Posted

Hello,
Lately I have got interested in some l2 developing and all the stuff connected with it. I have been reading all the guides about setting your own L2server, watching the tutorials etc., but I still have many problems, unfortunately with some of the most basic things. :-\ :-[
I have been playing L2 for ~7 years so I have quite a big experience and do know something about L2, but it's my first attempt into developing, and so far - I'm not doing as good as I expected.
I don't want to posta topic after topic with some very basic questions, so I am kindly asking if there is any person who could help me a little bit, and answer my newbie questions through the PM system or contact via skype or any other communicator, I would be really grateful!
Thank you in advance :)

You will ask much on pm or skype, so you can do it here as well. It's a community forum, at least should be.

Many questons, many pov's. So, just ask.. :P

Well, let's start then... :)
I would like to start developing it for myself, learn all the basics by setting up a server on my own home pc, just to get around with the things etc. The chronicle I am interested in is Hi5, but I am not really sure where to get all those Hi5 files from, ( I don't want to use links of other websites here), so is there any good source apart from l2js....com ? Should I use the one from one of the mxc topics (which is updated almost everyday)?
Mega newb question below!! :okey:
When I open the links from that mxc topic all I get is white screen with some sentences in blue (I can click on them, and open them - but I have no freaking idea how to download them or what am I supposed to do with them - [those links to be clear])...

Offtop:
In advance: Yes, I have read the guide "how to set up your own L2 server", I have seen all the videos about "how to compile" etc., I just cannot download the files, and yes once more - there are people who have been playing L2 for many many years and still know nothing about developing, so it may seem quite impossible for such a person to be a newb in developing etc., but unfortunately I have never tried it before - and now I think it's about the time, and please keep in mind - everyone started from zero

There is no need to hide the l2jserver name, it's okay :D

Well, I'd say stick/use l2jserver, it's the best option. About those links, it's a SVN link used to download the sources. You must use Eclipse in order to download / manage / edit them :)

There is a wiki @ l2jserver, so you can follow it, there is everything how to download sources, complie and such.

There is more articles @ wiki, but I don't rly know the link. I'm not l2jserver user, but I saw it few times :P

    • WoW Midnight — AFK Fishing Bot v2.0     Fully rewritten. No more pixel detection. V2 is audio-only and paired with a companion addon that handles everything inside the game — one keybind does it all.     Showcase:                  What's new in v2.0 Audio-only detection. Listens for the splash. No screen scanning, no calibration, no zone tuning. It just works anywhere. One key for everything. Same keybind casts the line and loots the catch. Bound via the included BobberAssist addon. Auto-buff system. Drop your lures, teas, potions (Haranir Phial, Sanguithorn Tea, Ominous Octopus Lure, etc.) into the addon. Set a timer. The bot refreshes them automatically before each cast. Sit-and-fish mode. Optional — bot types /sit when you start. Fewer interrupts from Root Crabs and roaming mobs. Smart anti-AFK. Fires only between catches, never mid-cast. AutoDestroy addon included. Junk items deleted automatically after every catch. VB-CABLE support. Play music, Discord, YouTube with zero interference. Randomized timing — natural 50–120 ms reactions.                       Features One-key start (F6) — press and walk away Audio isolation via VB-CABLE — play music, YouTube, Discord with zero interference Configurable consumable auto-use (lures / baits / potions / teas) with per-item timers Sit-and-fish mode to avoid ambient mob aggro Anti-AFK built in — jumps every 5 minutes in stand mode, jump + re-sit in sit mode (between catches only, never mid-cast) AutoDestroy addon included — automatically deletes junk items to keep bags clean after every catch Randomized splash→loot and loot→recast delays (natural timing, 50–120 ms reaction) Works in any zone, any fishing spot No pixel detection means no zone-specific tuning — it just works        Why v2 > v1 V1 scanned your screen for the bobber. It broke when the UI changed, the camera moved, or a new zone had different visuals. V2 only listens for the splash — nothing visual to break. Plus the new addon lets a single keybind cast, loot, and use your buffs. Way less setup, way more reliable.            Safety Runs completely external. No injection, no memory reads, no file edits. Watches nothing, listens to audio, presses one key. Use at your own risk. Automation is against Blizzard's ToS.          V1 owners Free upgrade. DM me for the new build.   One-time payment, lifetime access. DM on Discord: Nythrand
