For LIVE of course its not recommended you can see in the server console those Max Time For AsyncEnterWorld spamming a lot. Another funny way for making it more stable, its adding like 16 GB of pagefile to the system, but i don't think its a good idea.

Ok today I had to test something on L2Off and that gave me the opportunity to show you how wrong you are.

The following videos shows how I run and play L2Off on my 4GB about 4 years old laptop with integrated graphics (Intel GMA 4500MHD).

............

Be aware:

  • as you can see on both videos I use old Interlude Vanganth extender shared here and Windows 7 Ultimate Service Pack 1;
  • I did NOT excluded any Geodata blocks (I use full Geodata);
  • I did NOT excluded any NPC;
  • right on the server start my physical memory was filled 97% but after opening and closing some applications (including Chrome and Lineage 2 Interlude Client) it dropped to the values shown in the videos;
  • I have separate partition with Windows XP x64 and it runs the same server much better.

Then I apologize :D

I was never able to run PP-IRC-C4Retail in an AMD laptop with 4GB RAM....now C6 + client + recorder = very owned :P

Just a pop how improve my home-rig while i open a l2server for testing/dev'ing purposes :
I use 4 USB Flash Sticks of 16 Gb each, and i use them as "Virtual Memory" , without them my lol-rig is using the CPU at over 50% and the ram at over 90%, with the USB Flash Sticks my ram usage drops under 50% and no matter if i even open 1 or 2 or 5 IL clients i feel no lag/delay. (tho the usb sticks are getting damn hot after 1-2 hours)

My Windows 7 memory management is set to "Auto" so it increases the size of the pagefile if it "feels" it's needed. About "Max Time For AsyncEnterWorld" it's spamming a lot because I do a lot of side things - browsing, playing, recording video... if I just load the server without doing anything else and play on my sister's laptop on it I don't get this message at all.

It's not bad idea to use USB Flash Sticks :)

I think SSD could perform better although I'm not quite sure about it ("paging file" on SSD vs. "Ready Boost" on USB 2.0 vs. "Ready Boost" on USB 3.0). Anyway they are more expensive maybe it's better to just add more RAM although DDR2 for laptop (my case) is quite expensive these days because of well known reasons.

A tip:

It will be better if you do it manually, setting up the min and max at the same value, so windows won't need to suddenly start making it bigger, writing a lot of stuff on your hard drive, making a a big spike, in your system/resources load.

So for example setting 8192 MB (8GB) as both min and max value will make the cache file ready to be filled up, instead of having to create it or make it bigger, you can also try bigger values, i also recommend to run a defrag before boot, that will defrag most of the system files including pagefile, that the defragmentation process can't move while the system is operational.

Thanks for the tip :)

No problem mate, i always thought that "WIndows performance and tweaks" were a common knowledge for everyone, seems i was wrong.
