Why you should look for a book just go practice on your own at the internet.

I think its more benefitial for you.

Internet Practice?

One of the biggest aspects of poker-playing is reading your opponent. His thoughts, his cards, his actions, everything. Otherwise it's mostly a game based on chips-count and luck. It is a fact that you can tell the difference between a bluff and a strong hand even at an Internet Game, but it's definitely not the same.

And as far as books are concerned, it's beneficial for you to read the opinions of professional players regarding strong/weak hands, advantageous positions, players' psychology, etc. etc. I am not saying that a book is something that a new player desperately needs if he wants to start playing poker, but it will definitely help him A LOT.
