DragonSwords Posted November 21, 2012 Posted November 21, 2012 Hello guys i want to ask something about the system patch and it's patching, i was searching the forum recently and i found 1 topic with its subjet to be about server security, in the conversation bellow someone said that the right patching to do is to patch the system change the ip and your ports and rencode it again...i search again for the reconde but didn't find anything....is that true? if it is is a newbie question but is better to ask it now that i find it :) thanks!
minideed Posted November 21, 2012 Posted November 21, 2012 When you decrypt the files in the system folder you need to reencrypt them again using l2encdec in order to operate correctly, unless you get a professional coder to alter the files so you no longer need a special loader. As for security there is no real way to encode the client files so others cannot view them, anybody can use L2FileEdit on it once the client has been patched and see/alter them.

Thanks for the reply im asking this cause again recently i download a server patch from another server and i saw when i used file edit that it had as ip 127.0.0.1 and at the same time the server have custom items..so i was wonder if that's what he did in the patch and it had the 127.0.0.1...

Whoever patched this client did it so it was for a local network only, nobody outside the local network would be able to log in. As for the custom items this person probably added them to the server files as well. Simply adding a custom/new item to the client does not mean it will be found on the server without modifying the server files to match the client.
