[WebSite]CMS project, tell me your opinion.

First of all let me introduce you! I am a Web Developer that spends my free time on L2. So i decided to marry my job with my hobby and to start a WebSite project that has to do with L2.

 

Lets start with my knowledge on WebSites. I am a certified HTML/CSS/VBSCRIPT Developer that currently programms at C(++/#) platforms and razor syntax.

Note: I am not a Web Designer, but a Developer.(that does not mean that my designing skills are bad, thought.)

 

About this project: It will be a fully dynamic and functional pack that implements a CMSystem. It will be one less headacke for every owner of a server that will use it, since it will not require any skills to install it, run it and manage it. Also it will be that scripted, to much at the highest standars.

 

Features of this project: The WebSite owner will have its own panel and from there can observe, manage, edit almost everything without any skills required. With one-two clicks he can change all the site layout, from the background till the colors and the buttons till the content. He will be able to enable/disable the Vote System, Top PvPs, UserLogin System, Unstuck System with just checking and unchecking some boxes. But remember this panel is not exclusively for changing things that has to do with L2, from there he can implement/install a slider, a gallery, a forum, an swf file and everything that has to do with the site layout. Last but not least he can add/delete privilages from the registered site users, ban them warn them, send them emails and completly manage them.

 

At this point, let me explain the title of this post. As you can see you are referred in this title cause i want your help on suggesting ideas and tell me your opinion. I would like you to tell me some features that you may got on your mind that would be usefull to add. Also i would appriciate it very much to tell me your opinion about the project-pack more generally. Do you find it attractive? Maybe Out-Fashioned? Take your time and please, relpy. Every opinion here guess is acceptable.

 

P.S. For this project i will use C#, jQuery, Javascript(of course and Html/Css/Vbscript) and last SQL Server for the Databases!

Don't take me wrong, but is it really worth it making a whole new CMS from scratch taking in consideration the amount of highly advanced CMS's already out there? Wouldn't be just smarter,more useful and time efficient to make some adaptations (modules,plugins,etc) for Joomla, Drupal, etc ?

Aren't you going to use AJAX as well?

No men of course and i do not take you wrong and of course i am not offended. That what i asked for you, to tell your opinion. So lets see. Lets say you are a site owner, that will be more attractive to you? A drupal/joomla/wordpress custom theme with 5 changes that does not really want skills or a custom made CMS system based on L2?

 

P.S. jQuery is AJAX.

Whops sorry I didn't read jQuery.

Actually I wasn't suggesting a theme, although a theme would be smart as well. I'm talking about a framework such as gantry, plugins such as rokbox, roktabs,etc etc. These are not free, you could make such framework and adapt them to a L2 server's needs, plus, providing useful scripts which could be either used as an example or straight use.

I hardly catched you tbh. Let me explain you. I am a Developer of Websites, not Webtools or Webforms, so this cant be done, but this gantry its almost like the admin panel i have on my mind to make, just lets say with extra l2 functions.

From the perspective of L2 - is this really a smart thing to do?

L2jserver and in general all open source gameservers made it very easy to set up and make a playable server. This resulted in loads of servers which are one like the other because it is simple to the point where you change config and blam = server "done".

 

From what I understand you wish to make a website similar to this concept. Easy set up - easy run. I'm just thinking it will drop the value of actual good website and their designs. Not saying it's your fault or anything.

But the application may not be used as you might think it would be used.

Messenger system: You can login and send a personal message to a character, when character owner logs with his account he gets a notification about a message. You can test it with demo account by sending to your characters a message.

Its a legitimate and great choice.

For some reason,and I know this is stupid, but I just prefer Joomla. I guess its due to the fact that I've been using it for years now.
