  1. The evolution of League of Legends, today

The future of League of Legends is Ultra Rapid Fire and the future is right now. Set to go live next preseason, this massive update will help every player make impactful plays at every stage of the game. To give you a taste of this bold vision of the future, we’ve enabled a special preview queue that’ll be live for the next week. Check out a few of the hardest hitting changes:

    • Every champion begins the game with 80% cooldown reduction on abilities, activated items and summoner spells

    • Casting spells is fun, but running out of mana isn’t, so mana and energy costs have been removed

    • Marksmen could dole out tons more damage, so attack speed bonuses for ranged champions have been doubled

Later today, Cloud 9 and TSM will square off to claim the first ever pro U.R.F. victory - catch the action at lolesports.com. Or give Ultra Rapid Fire a shot yourself! We’ve opened up the mode to normal and Co-op vs AI queues – play a game and you’ll earn an exclusive summoner icon that’ll land in your account within three days.

    Ultra Rapid Fire Update Notes

Pwyff here with a preview of the 2015 season!

We believe that being forewarned is forearmed so we're testing next season's changes with the Ultra Rapid Fire mode. You guys loved the impact our 2014 season changes had on supports' end game fantasies and we realized we wanted to take that philosophy one step further: end game fantasies… accelerated. Full item builds will take less time to buy, big teamfights will happen more often and no more worrying about pesky resources! From the feedback we've received internally, we think you guys will love these updates.

Some of the changes are pretty drastic and, as a result, a few champions and items just didn't fit within our expanded philosophy. Usually we'd try to tweak them but, with these sweeping changes, we had to make some tough decisions. Clearly this will cause some pain for fans of those champions but it had to be done. Keeping LoL competitive is our number one priority with this update.

So enjoy this glimpse into the future of League of Legends!

There are a lot of changes here, but the core philosophy is to tune down anti-fun mechanics like mana costs, cooldowns and buying boots. Some of our other updates (like the additional tenacity) were to counterbalance our initial wave of changes, because when you eliminate cooldowns you also increase crowd control… a lot. We also discovered that when spells can be cast all the time, they effectively become flashier auto attacks, so we needed to buff up marksmen so they can remain the consistent damage dealers of the game.

    • MANA AND ENERGY COST All ability costs reduced to 0

    • COOLDOWN REDUCTION 80% on abilities, activated items and summoner spells

    • MOVEMENT SPEED +60 for all champions

    • TENACITY +25% for all champions

    • ATTACK SPEED BONUSES Bonuses given by items/abilities increased by 100% on ranged champions

    • CRITICAL STRIKE DAMAGE Increased by 25% of base damage on ranged champions

    • GOLD GAIN +500% of the amount normally granted on Summoner's Rift

  3. [LAB REPORT]

Updating a champion like Heimerdinger requires all the rigor of the scientific method. Given his upcoming PBE launch, more and more evidence from the experimentation is surfacing.

The first major discovery proved the mass previously known as Heimerdinger’s brain is actually hair. After what must have been days of cutting, styling and shaping, Heimerdinger returned to his lab to experiment with his new do.

With his hair density significantly reduced, Heimer implemented a long languishing invention: the D.I.N.G.R., a neural-engaged robotic arm. This schematic shows the arm of the D.I.N.G.R. lying in wait for Heimerdinger’s supercharged grey matter to raise the apparatus and launch a bevy of rockets and grenades at the enemies of science and progress.

But Heimer can’t call anything an upgrade if his turrets aren’t included. Whether sporting original ‘Dinger, Piltover Customs, Alien Invader or entering the Blast Zone, there’ll be no mistaking these death devices for ye olde pitching machines.

  4. Gambit Gaming's roster at LCS Spring Week 6

First of all, we would like to confirm that Gambit Gaming at LCS EU Week 6 are going to be represented by  the roster that was previously leaked. Since this information became available prior to our official announcement, in the given article we will emphasize the process of selecting our substitute players.

Dania.gif Morten "Zorozero" Rosenquist - Top

    Shvecia.gifohan "Hulberto" Johansson - Jungle

Norvegia.gifNorway Erlend "Nukeduck" Våtevik Holm - Mid

Germania.gifGermany Jakob "fury III" Burke - AD Carry

Rossia.gifRussia Edward "Edward" Abgaryan - Support

As you might have already noticed, we are using four substitute players, even though only three of our core players aren't able to attend the competition this week. As soon as it became clear that we are going to recruit at least three foreign players, we decided that Evgeny "Genja" Andryushin is going to miss this stage as well, since his level of English doesn't allow him to play in the international roster, therefore this week our roster will consist of only one Gambit's core player. Since Edward is the only one representing our core roster, he was in charge of picking four substitutes.

When our roster was revealed, quite a few of you were surprised why we didn't recruit Aleš "Freeze" Kněžínek. The thing is, you cannot recruit more than two players from the same team, whereas we initially decided to pick up Zorozero and Nukeduck, since in our view it is mandatory to get a hold of the strongest players available for Top and Mid. Doubtlessly, these two players are the most experienced and skilled representatives of the European amature scene - not only did they had a successful run at LCS EU Summer'13, but they also were playing in the group stage of the Season Three World Championship. As for the jungler Hulberto, NiP's players suggested that we pick him up.

This week our AD Carry is a player from Germany, Jakob "fury III" Burke. The reason he got picked up is quite simple - Edward used to play with him in Duo Queue, therefore both of them have a solid understanding of what should they expect from each other, while playing in the bot lane.

We solidified our roster this Monday, therefore they began practicing on Tuesday, On Wednesday they departed to Cologne, whereas the final preparations are going to take place today and tomorrow, and their primary goal is to figure out what to do against the specific opponents. We would like to remind that today at 20:00 CET we are playing against Roccat and tomorrow at the same time against SUPA HOT CREW. Even though this quintet is in a tough spot, they are determined to win - the two final training sessions are scheduled to last for seven hours each.

Despite us coming up with this particular roster already in the beginning of this week, we weren't able to announce it until all of the formalities were sorted out with the representatives of Riot Games. The official procedure of recruiting players for the official games encompasses an extensive paperwork for every single substitute player, whom we have four in total. Moreover, the communication is a long-drawn process due to the fact that we are handling these issues with the representatives of the office located in Los Angeles.
