Exactly why we are making our Interlude server with a few twists to bring something new to the players that love Interlude but bored of it :) Note: There is a ton of work going on behind the scenes and this project is evolving into something very cool. Will have some updates coming pretty quick.

Hopefully it will help rid us of more of the crappy servers. Not all private servers are buggy. One thing you can't get away from on OFF is the bots. One thing that a few private servers have done very well is their ant-bot which is a huge plus. Good to see NCSoft is using their heads for once but I'll still take private over OFF.

I would love to see you go deeper into this idea. I have thought similar but could never come up with a solid idea that would last over time.

While I respect the work L2J has accomplished I hate what they did to the community indirectly. Would have been way better off without imo but meh what can you do. What we really need is a vote site that automatically runs a trace on a gameserver IP when it is submitted and denies anything on a residential IP. The rest are checked by staff to make sure they are not home hosted. It would be a step in the right direction.

I am familiar with those ext and they are far from complete. As for stability it has to be a pretty badly done ext to be unstable and not something I am worried about with the Interlude we are using. I have nothing against HB but there is a reason there are no HB ext that are close to complete including the ones mentioned here.

The majority of these generic 4 day servers are hosted on peoples home computers and they use free hosting for the site and setting up L2J is a few clicks. They get a population of 30-50 people and a few of those always donate to become "king" for those few days so they do make a little money usually. For those really bad servers I think it is more about the powertrip though. The next level is ones that actually get a real domain and rent a cheap server at lets say OVH. They get a few people at the start before people see it is yet another crappy server but yeah they do make money usually in those first few days than poof everybody leaves and they close it down only having to pay 1 months rent on a cheap server. It's sad but true.

Powertrippin and making a quick buck are the two most popular. Regardless of the reason it's painful to watch.

This a great thread and I have already taken some really good information from it. Some of you may have seen my upcoming Interlude server post. While it is running OFF I believe a lot of what you guys are saying here still applies. I will be watching this thread closely! If you have any ideas you would like to see applied to our Interlude server please let me know (I have already taken a couple Ideas from here to make our server better). Thanks! Faith

I started putting together a feature list. Keep in mind it is just a beginning and will be updated frequently. I have put up some basic forums until the main site is ready. Well this section seems to be pretty slow these days. There are a couple "real" OFF devs that are roaming around MXC I know none of interested to join a serious project? Updated: The project is evolving, growing, and changing really fast right now and I do not have time to keep updating this especially with such a lack of interest by those few devs I was hoping I might get a reply from.
