Keep backup

I have a pack and i want to update it to another rev.

If i keep backup of acc.sql and characters.sql and then i update it.

Acc and character will lost?

Update all files except database ones. After finish this go to sql\updates\ folder and run each file query which name date is greater than the date of your old pack. I assume that you keep a backup of all your older files just in case.
