The new Nintendo peripheral that is attached to a Wiimote to provide 1:1 motion detection has made a good start in Japan. In its first week on sale on Wii MotionPlus (WMP) has sold 656,000 units, while 360,000 arrived by harvested sales by Wii Sports Resort, where the ring is no additional cost.

The remaining 296,000 units are individual sales, which certainly seems a success of Nintendo's new peripheral.

In Spain and the WMP can purchase both individually and bundled with EA Grand Slam Tennis. The next July 24 is the date chosen by Nintendo for Wii Sports Resort output in Spain that, as in Japan, will be marketed in a pack with the WMP free of charge.
