Tips for succesful Hatchling Levling!!!

Hatchlings now are a bit odd if they die. Especially if your hatch dies and then receives xp. This issue has been reported, and will be resolved.

However, there is no reason why your pet should die. This is what worked best for me:

Get your hatch. If you can afford it get at least a weapon and some beastshots. (available at the pet manager)

Equip the weapon by opening your inventory and his, and draging the weapon onto his, and then double clicking it (it gets a green line around it)

Enable the shots the same way you enable yours, on your hot bar.

Now...

The hatch gains XP based on the amount of damage IT does. However the mobs must be in its range. I am level 78, and found that the Cemetery was a good place for this. The mobs there are dark blue to me, but wouldn't be to the hatch. (and a few are agro, so watch those)

Don't party with anyone. This messes it all up.

Depending on what class you are try this: Go to a mob and cast anchor, hold undead, agression, hate or something similar. You want to either get the mob to attack you (without you doing any damage to it) or you want it to be immobile (again without doing any dmg) Then let the pet attack the mob, and make sure the mob doesn't attack the pet.

If you dont have one of those, you probably have a heal skill (even if weak) you can cast on your hatchling the heal skill.

To me the heal method is more risky. If you dont have a way to do one of these methods perhaps a friend of yours does. They could hold or anchor the mob while your pet attacks it.

This is of course my techique. Not the only way to do it, but it worked well for me.

I think the main reason people had problems leveling pets was death or parties.

Using my method, at the Cemetary I was able to level a hatch from 35 to 55 in about 15-20 minutes ;)

The strider quest is really easy, just make sure your hatch is next to you and not running when you talk to the trees, otherwise you get quest aborted.

Good luck and happy playing
