Leveling Fishing in WoW

For the beginners, regardless of race, when you are starting out, fishing in any water in a starting area will allow you to level your fishing to level 50. It is advised that you use a +25 fishing lure, but it is not required. The lure will simply help you avoid fish getting away. Also, if you are Horde, one of the best ways to make money from fishing is by catching Deviate Fish in the Barrens at the Oasis. Deviate Fish sell for good money in the auction house. If you get lucky enough to have the recipe drop for Savory Deviate Delight, you can make a nice amount of gold from the cooked fish in the auction house.

Ideally you can level your cooking along with your fishing at the same time. You'll just need to keep up with the recipes as you go along. I've included info for leveling both fishing and cooking together in this guide.

Fishing in even the lowest level water can and will level your fishing, and even in the lowest of waters like the pond in Orgimar or the Stormwind Canals, it will take no more than 14 successful casts to gain a fishing skill level.

Fishing 1-50

At the starting levels you will be catching two kinds of fish, Brilliant Smallfish and Longjaw Mud Snapper. You can cook these for sale or eat them yourself as you need to heal. The recipes, Brilliant Smallfish and Longjaw Mud Snapper, can be bought from Fishing Supply vendors.

Alliance: Crystal Lake in Elwynn Forest

Horde: The lake at Bloodhoof Village in Mulgore

Fishing 50-75

In these zones you will be catching more of the Longjaw Mud Snapper. The recipe can be purchased from Fishing Supply vendors.

Alliance: The Canals in Stormwind

Horde: The Pond in Orgrimmar

Fishing 75 - 150

In this zone you will be catching the Bristle Whisker Catfish. The recipe, Bristle Whisker Catfish, can be learned in Tauren Mill for Horde and Southshore for Alliance players.

Horde: Derak Nightfall in Tauren Mill at 63,49.

Alliance: Lindea Rabonne in Southshore on the docks at 50,60.

For this area fish the River in Hillsbrad Foothills.

Fishing 150-225

You will need to get and read the Expert Fishing Book that you can buy from Old Man Heming in Booty Bay on the Lowest level of the town at 27,77.

In this area you will be catching Mithril Head Trout. Be sure to purchase the recipe, Mithril Head Trout, from Old Man Heming as well.

Horde: Fish off the pier in Shadowprey Village in Desolace.

4-2.jpg

Alliance: Fish the lakes around Stromgarde Keep in Arathi Highlands.

Fishing 225-250

At level 225 you will have to go to the islands in Dustwallow Marsh. Swim SW from Theramore Island to Nat Pagle at 59,60.

Get a quest from him called Nat Pagle, Angler Extreme, to catch 4 rare fish.

    * One for The Savage Coast in Stranglethorn Vale. Savage Coast Blue Sailfin at 26,20.

    * One from the Verdantis River in Feralas. Feralas Ahi at 62,51.

    * One from the northern Sartheris Strand in Desolace. Ser'theris Striker at 26,76.

    * One from the coastline in Swamp of Sorrows. Misty Reed Mahi Mahi at 80,95.

Upon completion of this quest, Nat Pagle will give you Master Fishing skill raising your cap to 300. After that head to one of the map locations below to level your fishing.

Now you are ready to resume your leveling. In these areas you are going to be cathing Spotted Yellowtail. Be sure to purchase recipes for Spotted Yellowtail and Poached Sunscale Salmon (used in next stage) from Gikkix in Steamwheedle Port, located at 66.22.

Alliance: Head to Steamwheedle Port in Tanaris and fish along the beach.

06.jpg

Horde: Head to Raventusk Village in the Hinterlands and fish along the beach.

Fishing 250-260

Both Alliance and Horde head to Felwood and fish Bloodvenom Falls. In this area you will be catching the Sunscale Salmon. You will be using the Poached Sunscale Salmon recipe you bought in Steamwheedle Port to cook these.

2-1.jpg

Fishing 260-300

Both Alliance and Horde go to Azshara and fish around Scalebeard's Cave. In this area you will be catching Mightfish. To cook these you will need to buy the Mightfish Steak recipe from:

Horde: Sheendra Tallgrass at Camp Mojache located at 74,42 in Feralas.

Alliance: Vivianna at Feathermoon Stronghold in Feralas located at 31,43 in the Inn.

Fishing 300-375

You will need to go get your hands on the Artisan Fishing Book which is obtained from the fisherman at the Cenarion Expedition in Zangarmarsh in the Outlands, just on the bank of the lake. The area has high fishing requirements throughout, and its suggested to have at least a +75 lure and +20 fishing pole. You can get the lure from a vendor, and the quest 'Rather Be Fishin' from Seth in Lower City in Shattrath. His location is 64, 16.

Fishing 300-330

Both Alliance and Horde should fish Umbrafen Lakes and The Lagoon in Zangarmarsh.

In this area you wil be catching the Spotted Feltail. The recipe, Feltail Delight, can be bought from:

Horde: Zurai in Swamprat Post, located at 85,54 in Zangarmarsh.

Alliance: Doba in Orebor Harborage, located at 42,27 in Zangarmarsh

10.jpg

Fishing 330-345

At 330 both Horde and Alliance head over to Serpent Lake, Sporewind Lake, and Marshlight Lake in Western Zangarmarsh.

In this area you will be catching the Zangarian Sporefish. The recipe for this, Blackened Sporefish, can be bought from Juno Dufrain located in Cenarian Refuge at 78,66.

11.jpg

Fishing 345-360

This these levels head to Terrokar Forrest and fish the various rivers.

In this area you will be catching the Golden Darter. The recipe for this, Golden Fish Sticks, can be bought from:

Alliance: Innkeeper Biribi located in Allerian Stronghold at 56,53 in Terokkar Forest.

Horde: Rungor located in Stonebreaker Hold at 48,46 in Terokkar Forest.

12.jpg

Fishing 360-375

For this both Alliance and Horde will need a flying mount. You will need to fish the high altitude lakes. Also you'll need to use +100 lures and the best fishing pole you can. Some of your fish will still get away here, but its still be the best place to fish to finish you leveling.

In this are you will be catching the Furious Crawdad. The recipe, Spicy Crawdad, can be bought from:

Alliance: Innkeeper Biribi located in Allerian Stronghold at 56,53 in Terokkar Forest.

Horde: Rungor located in Stonebreaker Hold at 48,46 in Terokkar Forest.

Mr. Pinchy

For those in search of Mr. Pinchy, there is but one place to go. The high altitude lakes in Terokkar Forest. To get there you will need your flying mount. In the lakes there are Highland Mixed School nodes. There are a total of 17.

Highland Mixed School Nodes:

    * 3 in Lake Jorune located above Stonebreaker Point

    * 4 in Lake Ere’Noru located above Allerian Stronghold

    * 10 in Blackwind Lake in Skettis

Fishing in these areas requires you to have 480 fishing skill. So you will need +fishing gear and enchants to be very successful at catching anything. The fish that are available in these lakes to catch are Golden Darters, Goldenscale Vendorfish which sell for 6g each, and Furious Crawdads. Also catchable in these lakes are crates, scrollcases, and finally the famous, and greatly sought after, Mr. Pinchy.

Mr. Pinchy is a very special crawdad that you can catch. It is extremely rare to catch him, but if you do, he will grant you 3 wishes. Each of these wishes will grant a random effect or item that has a 48 hour cooldown. The drop rate for Mr. Pinchy is only 0.2%, which is about equal to 1 in 500 casts. Needless to say its going to require time and commitment to catch Mr. Pinchy.

Mr. Pinchy Wish Rewards:

    * A gift wrapped package that contains 4-5 Super Healing Potions and Super Mana Potions.

    * Summons Furious Mr. Pinky: a level 70 non-elite that will attack you.

    * Benevolent Mr. Pinchy: a level 70 companion that will protect you if attacked.

    * Mr. Pinhcy’s Blessing: 2 Hour +1200hp buff that last through death.

    * Magical Crawdad Box: This is the only non-consumable prize. You get a non-combat pet Mr. Pinchy. This is the hardest to get and is extremely rare.

Once you’ve used the three charges Mr. Pinchy will disappear, and you will have to start trying to catch him again, if you didn’t get the prize that you were after.

How to get 527 Fishing

375 Base Fishing Skill

+40 Arcanite Fishing Pole (+35 from the pole, +5 from putting the High Test Eternium Fishing Line on it for total of +40)

+5 Lucky Fishing Hat

+5 Nat Pagle's Extreme Anglin' Boots

+2 Fishing Skill Enchant to gloves

+100 Aquadynamic Fish Attractor (lure)

At Fishing Level 525 or higher, you will stop seeing "your fish got away!" messages no matter where you go, including the 3 fly-to only lakes in Terrokar Forest which have the highest fishing requirement and best fished items in the game.

427 is the highest fishing skill you can have un-lured (same as above, but with the +2 fishing skill to glove enchant as well), which makes the in-game cap for fishing 527 with an aquadynamic fish attractor.

Summary

So you are all set to go win the Booty Bay Fishing Tournament. By far the hardest parts are memorizing where the nodes spawn and learning where to stand so that your bobber has the best chance to land in the swirling Tastyfish whirlpool. Watch out for aggro, run swiftly, fish deeply.

smart guy hu?

what would you have done if you hadn't have used the pirox fishbot?

Posted

ok if I hadn't used I would have looked for a guide like this :))

but inside the instance there is absolute no risk of getting seen so it's safe :P

but I'm just saying that with 3.1 patch, you don't have to fish in a specific spot to lvl your fishing, you can fish wherever you want, if you are lvl 1 you can still go and fish in the dalaran fountain for example...
