Returning player help

Hi everyone.

A friend and I are returning playing (EDIT: EU retail) Templar / cleric and received all of the kerub / helper gear but don't know how to progress. We are too weak for nearly every group instance we try (except eso terrace) and are too weak for aspharanta to continue the campaign. Any PvP zone is too difficult because we get killed by others within a matter of seconds.

I read a post a few days ago with a similar question and most of the responses were to drop the game and / or wait for Aion classic. But since I have a gold pack activated, I'd like to see if there's a way forward. https://omegle.onl/ 

I don't mind paying regularly for a gold pack and can play a few hours most evenings. I don't need to compete with the strongest on the server, but is it at least possible to get to a point where I can enjoy all of the instance content and not get insta-killed during PvP? How long would it take and can anyone point me in the right direction?
