Request Unable To Edit .dat Files

I am unable to edit npcgrp and npcname-e.dat. Actually ANY .dat files with L2File Editor ++ v2a.

 

What do I need to do to edit npcgrp.dat and npcname-e.dat????

 

 

L2ClientDat seems too old.

but npcgrp.dat REFUSES to be saved after I edit it.

 

I can edit it, but i cannot save changes no matter what I do, with l2disasm or L2DFE

One thing is, that your L2file edit could be corrupted. Another can be, that files are not patched so you can't really work with them (but this way, you would not be able to even open them (am I right?)), but most likely, it is just that you changed or added something, and there spaces between some columns. -> You can't leave space anywhere in the file, only accepted is tabulator (TAB button above your capslock). So go and check the lines you edited if there is some space between each column, and if there is, delete it. If there still is some space somewhere, L2 FileEdit take it as a wrong file format and refuses to save the file
