Creating/designing a game updater/laundher

Im searching a guide which tells you how to make a game updater. Im about to help some of my friends for their game, and i want to suprise them by making their updater/launcher.

Sorry if i havent explained enough, but im not looking for L2 updaters if thats what you mean. Im about to create my own for another game..
