  1. Just replace the l2.ini We went too far offtopic IMO. On topic: Real 746 can be noGG'd exclusively through nwindow.dll (same as 744 and earlier).
  2. GF unpack from fyyre requires a patched system (not a clean one).
  3. Installer is protocol 740, this engine.dll is for 746 (last update). Care to make another for the installer's clean version as well?
  4. Low player count today = no players in the future. An unique server that everyone will want to play on must have at least 200 real players online at all times (incl. night/early morning hours). Trust me, once you make such a server, players will swarm over to it. (of course, you might spot a chicken/egg problem here; however, everything stated above has been proven to be the truth)
  5. Yeah, I know. A little tinkering and we have bla bla bla imm32.dll ntdll.dll CreateProcess WerFault.exe EDIT: you can always use an unpacked version of l2.exe, Fyyre had those for HB and all Gracia parts. E.g. you can play GF on Win 10 x64 without Themida/WinLicense shell. Of course, for your convenience, Fyyre did a little cleanup at his website. Have fun :)
  6. The real fix has been already made @ Themida side. Of course, it's not retroactive :D I will try playing around with the compatibility toolkit, for I still have some ideas what may be functioning differently. Don't get your hopes up just yet.
  7. What about DB dump or SQL scripts (yeah, you can't classify those as binaries :D)? At least SP declarations! That's a good idea.
  8. Yeah, wanted to point that out too. Here's the list of [unmodified] clients that work on Windows 10: 2002 Alpha, C0 Beta, C0, C1, C2, C3, C4, C5, Gracia Epilogue, Freya, HF, GoD/Tauti, GD, GDL, Epeisodion/Valiance, Ertheia, IO.
  9. Lower Windows folder size for us SSD owners. (and lower memory footprint on startup) You know how giant it gets after a few years with countless windows updates pass :D Oh, and should I mention DX12 support? Eagerly awaiting for some engine to be updated to use the new API so that someone can finally rebuild a real game and check out the performance.
  10. Well, from what I have seen (on C5), those AuthDs for C3, C4, C5, C6 require that you inject prelude auth code to client (either directly to L2.exe or Engine.dll, or just add an import to L2.exe and do that in DllMain, e.g. C5ex.dll). So if you use 40504 successfully on C3 557+, or any later chronicle, that means that you have a customized client system folder (in other words, it does not use the auth method it was using back in the day). The sad thing about C4 AuthGateD is that it's simply useless today. C4 and C5 clients have hardcoded checks for GG process all over their network code. If GG is not running, the client will not build any packets (and will not send any). And the best part is, both C4 and C5 noGGs out in the public only disable modal GG dialogs in nwindow.dll. They do not remove the hardcoded checks. Which is most likely why you are using a custom system with prelude auth injected. Now you might ask, why the hell can't we simply run a completely clean client on a legacy OS, for example Win XP x86, with a GG download server emulator to download old (C4/C5 dated) GG files (idk if anyone even has them). The answer is that C4/C5 GG (Lineage2US.ini & other IDfiable content) is blacklisted @ nProtect. If you have no internet, you will always get a GG error, that's how it always was. But if you have internet, you will still get an error, as the game itself is blacklisted. So unless someone has time and is willing to spend their effort on cleaning up GG from C4/C5 clients (or has already done so, and could share), all you will see is that with a clean client C4 AuthGateD sends a single packet and client does not respond. (e.g. it "doesn't" work). Not that the 40504/C4 works with a clean client either.
  11. As far as IL (and only IL, not Kamael and later chronicles which are also affected), infinite loop is entered shortly before attempting to load imm32.dll and msctf.dll. The issue will be some incorrect assumption in Themida VM generated code, which was actually noticed and fixed by its own developers years before Win 10 even reached public attention (that's why GE and later L2 clients have no issues).
  12. I once guessed, but later I noticed that the facts do not check out, so I stopped. Though, of course, there's always employee rotation going on. In any organization. This clears some things up, but it is still not enough. Also, certain facts do indicate it is highly likely "developers" are not spending their time developing L2, they have gotten lazy. I guess they know even less about how L2 works nowadays than before, and "having prebuilt serverpacks" would be a reasonable explanation. As well as the current slowdown. (although NA/NCWest failed to deliver IO and had the exalted quest chain broken for like a month after release; tough times for all, I guess). Thanks for the pointers, but I still stand by what I said. HF is a sort of a moral successor to IL, being loved without any good reason; so obviously, it can't be let go, just like IL was at a time. Time will pass and it will become old and worthless, and it will be given away. On the other hand, GDL is not a moral successor to anything. GoD updates, on the other hand, made the game differ by large amounts between them. So it is arguable whether the base GoD pack is worth something nowadays, esp. considering that at least part of HF stuff was already removed at GoD release. Current L2 uses entirely different classes, SP counts, monster spawns and drops, item gain/enchant methods, etc. etc., although the monster AI is either largely the same or actually the very same as in GF (of course, for field monsters that already existed in GF). And obviously for people who don't really know how to play L2, this wouldn't say anything except "they want to take my precious". On the other hand, not sharing anything is the best way to stay off the radar.
  13. Applications packed with a very old Themida/WinLicense used to work in early Windows 10 builds (think 98xx). After that, they changed something (one of the features added later on was 'system compression', which hooks into file I/O routines) that causes old Themida to enter an infinite loop. All L2 chronicles without WinLicense are not affected, and can be run on Windows 10: KR internal builds, 2002 Alpha, Prelude Beta, …, C5. All L2 chronicles using an even moderately recent WinLicense version are not affected: Epilogue, Freya, …, IO. If you want to play anything between IL and GF (inclusive), you must unpack the client build or do not use Windows 10. How about that, IL and GF lovers? Microsoft decided it's time for you to move on.
  14. There was never any substantial proof about IL, HB or HF. Though there were Freya scripts, so the exes may have existed as well. Yes, this WAS (or should I say IS, because it is to this day) an anomaly. And HF was very similar to Freya. Extremely, I'd say. You know what that means… People who had Freya just extended it to HF. The fun thing is, there's apparently Ertheia scripts floating around, even though there isn't any real Ertheia server available to the public (yet?). All are either l2j or L2OFF with client support. Which unfortunately forces me to reserve judgement. I may be wrong about HF, and I may also be wrong about Ertheia, unfortunately. Because people always end up doing extenders and customizing gameplay to a point where it starts getting unclear if this is C1 ext with dumbed down AI from GF/later and all the additions (aug/attr/appearance/etc) built on top. For whatever that is related to those leaks, we all live in a world of illusions; hence some completely unimportant detail holds the key to proving that things are the way we believe they are. I guess that means it's time for me to shut up, as it is pointless to debate things I can neither prove nor disprove (yet). EDIT: But GoD++ was nowhere near linear development model. There are GoD+ features that existed very shortly; plus, not having additional race and classic mode support out of the box is a letdown.
  15. Well, he specified that he does not want to sell them. And I can understand – if you want to make money, you have to sell them immediately and to as many interested parties as possible. Now, after a new race/classes AND an entirely new game mode (Classic) was released (not to mention max lvl 199 + exaltation and cross-server raids in IO), this GDL (PTS?) serverpack is worth cents compared to what it was worth roughly two years ago. It is still worth a lot in the hands of a typical server owner, but it is missing far too many major features nowadays, so there's no way to sell it for a "good" price. I'd say we just wait until another update like Ertheia arrives, since that will make the obsolete GDL worth a few hundred bucks, all-included. And yes, time is on our side. No one in their sane mind would pay more than $10 for an official C2 485 serverpack (complete with db dump, petition, etc.) today. This happened to C4, happened to GF, and it will happen to GDL. Thanks, although this raises too many questions ;)
