Many features, skins, and it plays just about any kind of media file you can think of. Highly recommended! FL Studio - http://www.flstudio.com/ XX --- FL Studio is a music making program, mainly for making techno. While it's only a demo, you can still do some pretty neat things with FL Studio, but it will take you some time to learn. The biggest problem of it being a demo, is that it doesn't allow you to save and work on your songs later, but you can still export them to MP3 or WAV. Audacity - http://audacity.sourceforge.net/ X --- This is one of the best free audio editing/voice recording programs that you're probably going to find. If you're stuck with the standard windows voice recording program, be sure to download this, as it has many nice features. You can add reverb, you can change the pitch of the sound without slowing it down or speeding it up, change the speed without changing the pitch, and tons of other cool things. OverClocked ReMix - http://www.ocremix.org/ XX --- While this isn't a program, it's certainly a free thing anybody who considers themselves a gamer should know about. Hours and hours of quality free music, all of which are video game remixes. I'm sure you're thinking, "Oh, boy... more video game tunes with a standard techno beat behind them. Yay.", but suprisingly that isn't the case. There are many, many unique and original remixes to be found here. So, pretty much, it's a sidescrolling game that's kind of like a mix between Metroid, Zelda, and Contra. There's a nice assortment of weapons to choose from by the time you beat the game (which I think took me about somewhere between 7-9 hours), all of which have their own use at certain times in the game. Also, by picking up experience dropped by enemies, you can level your guns up to become even more powerful. However, if you take damage, the weapon you're holding will lose experiences. And to make things better, the game also contains a fairly nice storyline to keep you hooked up until you actually beat it. At the beginning of the game, it's likely you're not going to know what's going on, and that's okay, as I think that's the way I think they ment it to be. From what I've heard, the game also has mutliple endings. The game has a very retro soundtrack. It made me feel like I was playing a NES or Gameboy game (Well, with considerably better graphics). The variety in the locations was amazing and the challenges brilliantly designed. Quite rightly it was awarded with pretty much every accolade that could be bestowed upon it by the various magazines. Even today it still stands as a brilliantly designed title and has never really been bettered in the isometric adventure genre." GAMES Soldat - http://www.soldat.prv.pl/ XX --- Soldat is a 2D shooter in which the quickest and most effective way to describe it would be a mix of Counter-Strike, Halo, Tribes, and Super Smash Brothers mixed into one crazy package. So, you have a jetpack that helps you get around the level, and a quite a few different weapons to dish out the destruction with, plus a grenade button for some quick kills. There is also quite a few different modes and settings to play with, including good 'ol CTF, classic Deathmatch, and plenty more. The biggest beef I have with this game, however, is the weapon balancing. For the most part it isn't really that bad, but when you're playing CTF against a whole bunch of grenade launcher whores, you'll see what I'm saying. Also there is a map maker you can download from the site which is fairly easy to use, so you could have some fun with that as well. I highly recommend this game to all. Gunz: The Duel - http://www.gunzonline.com/ --- Gunz is yet another game that I've heard is great, but really don't know too much about myself. I downloaded it, then couldn't even get on to a server and didn't bother with it after that. From what I've been told, it's a massively multiplayer online shooting game that has all kinds of crazy Matrix shit. Check out the website for more information. A bit too repetitive for me, but I know a lot of people who play and enjoy it. Also, this game installs Starforce on your computer. You should probably do a google search and see if this bugs you any. It really is a great game, however, and I'd hate for anyone to miss out. If you've never played an Advance Wars game before, there's also a section that teachs you a little bit about it so you can enjoy it as well. Charred Dirt - http://www.charreddirt.com/ X --- This is a remake, of sorts, of the game 'Scorched Earth'. While I've never actually played the original Scorched Earth, I guess it's what spawned games like Worms and Gunbound. So basically, you take turns on a 2D play field and blow the crap out of eachother and the environment. In this game, however, when you blow stuff up the broken pieces don't float in the air, they fall to the ground in a rather neat effect. I suppose this could be a fairly fun way to throw away an afternoon if you have some friends to play with, but since there never seems to be any servers online, I'd just stick with Gunbound.
