Eμφανίστηκαν στο Web τα πρώτα screenshots από την έκδοση των Windows 8, την οποία παρουσίασε η Microsoft στην CES 2011. Οι εικόνες, που ανέβηκαν στο Web από το κινέζικο site 'MyDrivers', απεικονίζουν εν δράση την έκδοση 6.2.7867 που παρουσιάστηκε στην CES.

 

Tα δημοσιευμένα screenshots δείχνουν ότι η λόγω προέκδοση χρησιμοποιεί ακόμα το τρέχον aero interface των Windows 7. Αποτελεί μέρος της χαρακτηριζόμενης ως "Milestone 1" πρώτης φάσης ανάπτυξης, στην οποία γίνονταν εργασίες κυρίως κάτω από την επιφάνεια εργασίας.

 

Μεταξύ άλλων εμφανίζεται ο νέος Internet Explorer 9, μαζί με τους αναμενόμενους νεωτερισμούς για την έκδοση RC, όπως είναι η δυνατότητα απεικόνισης των tabs κάτω από την μπάρα διευθύνσεων. Άλλους νεωτερισμούς σε σχέση με τα Windows 7 δεν μπορεί κανείς να εντοπίσει.

 

Σύμφωνα με το MyDrivers, οι εργασίες στην έκδοση "Milestone 2" των Windows "8" ξεκίνησαν το Δεκέμβριο. Παράλληλα κάθε εβδομάδα παράγονται αρκετές εκδόσεις Μ2. Προς το παρόν η τελευταία προέκδοση φαίνεται να είναι η Build 6.2.7911.0.winmain_win8m2.110112-1725.
