Story:

Chronicle 3: Rise of Darkness (henceforth C3) begins to see the main story of Lineage II world unfold. The Seven Signs - powers that seal Shilen (Goddess of Death) have been unearthed, and thus chaos unleashes in the world of Aden where the fight to yield the Signs and harness its power begins.

 

In plain terms, The Seven Signs provide rewards for player factions, such as special dungeon/zone accesses where unique loots are aplenty and wealth to be made. PvP is promoted even further as players will need to choose carefully on which faction to be part of to earn the right to have such accesses and additional prevledges. (More details of the rewards and rules will be followed up in a later section.)

 

Players are divided between the two factions, Dawn and Dusk, as the first three of The Seven Signs of Shilen emerges. (Only 3 out of the 7 Signs are released in C3)

 

• Seal of Greed - controls access to Necropolis, a new C3 dungeon with 8 different dungeon zones to explore
  
• Seal of Prophecy - controls access to Catacombs, a new C3 dungeon with 6 different dungeon zones to explore.
  
• Seal of Discord - changes ruleset of Siege War, making the controller more advantageous in Castle PvP.
  

 

Faction of Dusk - are chosen from Castle owners and their Clans/Alliances, thus Faction of Dawn falls into the "all others" category. These two factions, battle out each week for the control of the dungeons and Castle Siege advantages, through two major challenge process...

 

The two events, Festivity of Darkness and Seven Signs Item Hunt operates during the first week of launch and every fortnight thereafter, giving each winning faction a week of exclusive access to the reward features.

 

Exclusive dungeons and siege advantage for the winners for a week - the fight will be intense... factions and alliances may changes, entire clans may shift policy - the game of politics are renewed as the prophecy brings greed and discord to men.

 

There are the expected ruleset limitations to prevent abuse, such as level 40+ characters having restricted faction choices and so on. As taking sides now may mean wealth or nothing for every single player, the tension rises in the world of Aden...
