Clan Crest[Dds Filter]

Hello. Recently I wanted to create clan statistics on my web page and everything is good, I wanted to add clan crest on left of clan names. So I go to data/crests folder and see that crest files are in dds format. I am curious why is it in dds format?

 

p.s I use aCis :)
