  1. Every year, the PGA Tour gathers at Hilton Head Island, S.C., to play a tournament at one of the best golf courses in the world. Harbour Town Golf Links has hosted the Heritage Classic since 1969 and has seen plenty of great finishes in its day. The biggest problem on the course is the wind. The final hole has a huge grandstand layout, a lighthouse in the background and plenty of wind blowing out to the Atlantic. It's almost like St. Andrews in Scotland. Davis Love III has entered the Heritage 25 straight years, a record for the course. He also holds the distinction of being the only five-time winner of the tournament dating back to his first win at Harbour Town in 1987, his first professional victory. His last win at the Heritage Classic is one of the most memorable. On the very last hole, Love needed a chip in to force a playoff against fellow American Woody Austin. You can see video of his shot here on the PGA website. It was far from easy—Love had to chip going towards the ocean. He had to keep his shot low so it wouldn't be affected by the wind. The ball rolled steadily towards the cup and fell and the golfers went to a playoff. The sudden death playoff lasted four holes. Both men bogeyed the third hole in the playoff until Love III hit a huge 7-iron to within three feet of the cup. Ironically, the winner's brother Mark Love was his caddy for the week as his regular took a week off. It was a memorable Love family affair at the 2003 Heritage. Love III is one of the most consistent golfers on the PGA Tour and has 20 victories to his credit. He will be playing the Harbour Town Links again this year. Traditionally, the Heritage happens shortly after the Masters towards the beginning of the season. The way this year has gone on the PGA Tour, anyone can win on one of the most fabled courses on the Tour. Love III will always be considered one of the favorites to win as he owns the course. http://www.esa.org/austin/forum/user-38445.html http://www.doublefine.com/forums/member/73930/ http://www.yourcarolina.tv/member/41268/ http://www.earthswoop.com/forums/member.php?u=41899 http://www.doublefine.com/forums/member/73931/ http://forums.vwvortex.com/member.php?649160-irigent http://www.esa.org/austin/forum/user-38437.html http://johnmayer.com/community/member.php?u=21251 http://forums.vwvortex.com/member.php?649163-krigent The Heritage is from April 21 to 24, 2011. Hilton Head Island is one of the premier spots for golf as several courses beckon tourists to descend upon the storied beaches and links every year starting in the spring.
  2. Once the main rival to Tiger Woods, Sergio Garcia is facing qualification issues for the 2011 U.S. Open. Garcia was considered a huge threat to Woods in the past, but he has slipped out of the realm of elite golfers. Now, it seems that Garcia may not even qualify for the U.S. Open in June, something that was unheard of a long time ago. Garcia is currently ranked 76th, and only the top 50 qualify for the U.S. Open. Garcia has no major championships to help him automatically qualify, which means he might have to qualify through the sectional tournaments. Garcia is set to participate in a couple of tournaments prior to the U.S. Open, including the Players Championship. He will have his opportunities to qualify, but the mountain his high. Garcia will need to perform well to get to the tournament. He could also hope for an exemption, but that doesn't seem very likely. Garcia has never quite found the popularity he could have. Even at the height of his game, fans never fully embraced him. A lot of that had to do with his slow play, which often aggravated people who watched him. Garcia is a fine golfer, but with no major championships on his resume, it will be hard for people to consider him anything more than a good golfer who had some decent years. Garcia has finished in the top 10 at a major 15 times, including all four majors in 2002. But without a win, people aren't going to remember that. Garcia, who has played in 46 straight majors, now faces the prospect of winding up on the bubble for qualifying each time. http://www.seobook.com/user/frigent http://www.mycarforum.com/index.php?showuser=101395 http://www.jettheband.com/users/nRveZFsa http://www.seobook.com/user/nrigent http://www.earthswoop.com/forums/member.php?u=41898 http://www.doublefine.com/forums/member/73933/ http://forums.vwvortex.com/member.php?649167-nrigent http://www.seobook.com/user/krigent http://www.earthswoop.com/forums/member.php?u=41905 http://www.doublefine.com/forums/member/73927/ http://www.yourcarolina.tv/member/41270/ Garcia's biggest chance for a statement is at the Players Championship. He won that event in 2008, his last victory at a PGA event. If Garcia can play well there, he might land himself a spot in the U.S. Open. More importantly, he might show people that he is still a real threat out there.
  3. The AT&T National is being held at the Aronimink Golf Club in Newton Square, Pa., June 30-July 3. The field is wide open this year as a few of the best golfers in the world will take the weekend off. Tiger Woods is on the scene this weekend as the host of tournament, but he is not giving any indication when he will return to the PGA Tour. This week is the best chance for a long-shot to blast out of the main pack and win their first PGA tournament. Players like Charlie Wi, Jhonattan Vegas and Charley Hoffman are all legitimate golfers with a chance to bring home a coveted trophy at the AT&T National. The tournament has always been a tune-up event for Tiger Woods, but many of the world's top-ranked golfers have elected to pass on this year's event. Phil Mickelson, Rory McIlroy and Graeme McDowell are all focusing on the British Open, along with Matt Kuchar and Luke Donald to name just a few. http://www.esa.org/austin/forum/user-38444.html http://www.yourcarolina.tv/member/41266/ http://www.jettheband.com/users/bQ0uUWil http://www.garynock.com/member/35280/ http://forums.vwvortex.com/member.php?649165-mrigent http://forums.vwvortex.com/member.php?649164-lrigent http://www.jettheband.com/users/45bUs4dj http://www.garynock.com/member/35284/ The best bets for this year's AT&T National range from Hunter Mahan and Nick Watney to Webb Simpson and Ryan Moore. Each golfer has an edge in different categories that translate well for the Aronimink Golf Club.
