[Question] External Drive and OS

Is it possible for me to install Windows 7 x64 on my PC through an external hard drive?

I heard this method is the only way to install an OS on a netbook, but how about a proper pc?

 

(I'm gathering some cash and I'd prefer it if I didn't have to waste cash on dvds)

Yes it is possible but it is much easier if you do it with a USB key. I've done it to many laptops and desktops.

I assume you have a USB stick of 4gb+.

Download an ISO of your preference.

Download Win To Flash.

Install that ISO on your key using WtF.

Boot from USB.
