Lineage ][ Vendetta Wiped - Looking for someone to continue the project.

PyroMaker

Question

Hello,

________________________________________________________________

Recently we've had datacenter issues with Vendetta. Here's my post at the website:

"Dear players,

A terrible unfortunate has happened... apparantly these stupid idiots from our datacenter have erased all our data... when the maintenance was over, I still couldn`t connect to the box, so I sent a ticket and they said they were having "power issues"... a few hours later I was told our HDDs were corrupted and that there was nothing else they could do but wipe it, I told them not to and to figure a way out without losing any data.

This morning when I woke up I tried to connect to the box, I found out our 4 HDDs were fully wiped, there was nothing but a completely new operating system (Clean Windows 2003), everything was gone: L2Server files, Scripts, Geodata, web server files, databases, absolutly everything!

I am doing all I can to make amends to this situation, but unfortunately I see no other way out than shutting down L2Vendetta. If we had as many players and contributors as we had before, we would probably do an extra effort to work this out, we still got backups of our files but all the databases are gone... Our Databases backups were on a separate HDD but unfortunately, all of them are clean now.

My apologies to all the people who have supported this project, if you have any ideas you can mail me @ pyromaker@gmail.com, I`ll read and answer you asap, but like I said, I don`t think we have many options.

We are truly sorry for this, however it was out of our control."

That being said, it's just not possible for me to keep going with this project, however I would like if someone continued it. I am willing to pass forward the domain (www.l2-vendetta.com), website design/coding, full forum + forum domain, Interlude scripts (backups I had) reworked for over almost 2 years, perfect Interlude geodata and the full HTML. I do have the latest dvamp extender but its hardware locked however I do know dvamp DLL sellers though.

Anyways... if you know me you probably know even though my server wasn't that populated as it was before, I always tried to provide my players a quality server when it comes to server files.

If you wish to talk to me further about this and continue this project, talk to me at PyroMaker@gmail.com. This is my email and MSN, so you can email me or add me on MSN and we'll talk about it.

P.S: Kids are not welcome, come with a serious offer or else please don't waste my time.

Thank you folks.

Regards,

Mike Philippe.

The HDDs weren't erased, they were corrupted... they were all in one machine and that machine had some sort of short circuit that damaged not only the HDDs, but all the rest, including RAM, processor, etc. - Almost everything had to be replaced.

imo, start working on the ct1.5 l2OFF extender. Interlude is getting old... going to die soon enough.

Pretty shitty how your datacenter treated you, I would contest their decision and not pay them for the last month of service. Its not the first time that I've heard about the data center being retarded. In all honesty, if your hook up your computers correctly, power issues shouldn't occur (gg datacenter once again).

    • Diablo III, the action-packed hack-and-slash RPG developed by Blizzard Entertainment, has captivated gamers worldwide since its release in 2012. Now, imagine a world where Diablo III's source code is opened up to the community, inviting developers and enthusiasts alike to enhance and refine this beloved game. This topic delves into the possibilities, challenges, and community desires surrounding the idea of Diablo III as an open-source project.   Key Points: 1. Defining Diablo III: Diablo III is an action role-playing game set in the dark fantasy world of Sanctuary. Players traverse through randomized dungeons, battling hordes of demons and collecting loot to strengthen their characters. With its compelling storyline, addictive gameplay mechanics, and rich lore, Diablo III has amassed a dedicated fanbase over the years.   2. Open Source Potential: Opening up the source code of Diablo III could unlock a wealth of opportunities for the game's future. Community developers could introduce new features, enhance existing gameplay elements, and address long-standing issues. The modding community, known for its creativity and innovation, could breathe new life into the game by creating custom content, game modes, and user interface improvements. 3. Community Interest: The question arises - would the gaming community welcome the idea of Diablo III becoming open source? Many players are eager to see the game evolve beyond its current state, with enhancements such as improved balance, expanded end-game content, and enhanced multiplayer features. By involving the community in the development process, Diablo III could foster a stronger sense of ownership and collaboration among its players. 4. Challenges and Considerations: While the concept of Diablo III as an open source is enticing, it also presents several challenges. Ensuring the integrity of the game's balance and preventing cheating would be paramount concerns. Additionally, coordinating development efforts and maintaining a cohesive vision for the game could prove challenging in a community-driven environment. However, with proper oversight and collaboration, these obstacles can be overcome. 5. Is Diablo III an MMORPG? Diablo III is often categorized as an action RPG rather than a traditional MMORPG (massively multiplayer online role-playing game). While it does feature online multiplayer elements, including cooperative play and player-versus-player combat, it lacks the persistent open world typically associated with MMORPGs. Instead, Diablo III focuses on instanced dungeons and smaller-scale multiplayer interactions. The Benefits of Improvement: Improving Diablo III through open-source development could revitalize the game, attracting new players and re-engaging existing fans. By embracing community-driven innovation, Diablo III could remain relevant and enjoyable for years to come. Additionally, fostering an active modding community could extend the game's longevity and create new opportunities for player expression and creativity.   Source code
