How does it works?

our system automatically pop-up validation window to characters oscillating around specified number of killed monsters, in order to verify possible bots use. player have to match randomly generated colours within <also> randomly chosen patterns (time is limited). forgive me guys, but since now any instant changes or system updates will be available only for acis customers.

our main provisions:

  • does not require to be fluent in a foreign language, as simple as possible.
  • insurmountable by nowadays programs used to inject bots.
  • does not affecting existing source (just few necessary lines), no external libs are needed.
  • punishment selection (move to nearest town, kick from the server, put to the jail or ban character).
  • configurable validation time.

code preview? check it out on pastebin.

does not require to be fluent in a foreign language

Imagine that you only know a few words in english and then look at image #2.

Is it clear what you should do? No.

Is it clear that action is required? Well, if the player has reached level 9000+ in common sense, seeing 'Bot' in title bar will alert him that something needs to be done, and fast. But these players are so few, you seriously don't want to count on it.

I suggest also including an example (tutorial) within the HTML. And do not use words, simply use arrows (or arrow textures), e.g.

image with on pattern+color above and three below -> same image with matching pattern+color at bottom row in an outline/box/highlighted/whatever -> image with a green checkmark/image with OK/something like that.

P.S. This would also be at least 100 times better replacement for the horrible decoration at the top.

Well, yeah, it is clear what to do, else your IQ is so damn low. That's a normal reaction to click on the same image that you see.

How do you understand that some images are buttons and some are just images? You don't know english, remember! All what is written is just some mumbo jumbo.

does not require to be fluent in a foreign language

In reality, if it was not clear to me or you, we could just read and know exactly what to do. But now, it's just some annoying ad/vote request with stupid images (no buttons/links/input fields).

Well, even if it was like wtf language it is, logic is telling me to click on the same image or drag'n'drop. Anyway, we have to trust ppl are more or less smart :D

so basically, this code is useless because some players may not understand used language? we believe is way better than any available captcha.

making changes in given layout are so difficult task for nowaday 'developers'? replacing organized lines for html window are the biggest challenge, seriously?

Uhm, no. Most players know enough English to understand everything written here (and/or notice the title bar). I was only attacking the single point

does not require to be fluent in a foreign language

about how this code is advertised. There's nothing wrong with how it works, as it does what is expected.

Anyway, we have to trust ppl are more or less smart :D

I swear, if this was back at C4/C5 times, when I was a server owner, it would take approx. 5 minutes from first TP/kick/jail/ban, some asswipe who can't even explain in English wtf he wants trying to tell me he was TPed/kicked/jailed/banned for no reason. And honestly, I really hate people who can't speak English trying to spam my Skype. I believe other international server owners do too.

Seems good, but there are some tips to implement:

1/ Add function when 30mins (example 30 mins)  expires, it show you window with antibot.

2/ Add into the config specifics mobs.. Like Knoriks .. If the player killed 2nd or 3th Knoriks it show antibot window

3/ and last good thing is... If is possible to save player action... like

Attack, spell, potion, change the target....

if this character repeat xx times.. it show the window with antibot.

1/ want to send validation window to players no matter if they actually farming or standing in town/went away - what the point of that?

2/ knoriks is not a part of interlude chronicle. i believe such feature is of no use on interlude anyway.

3/ too easy to trick such checks.

btw. we have in plans an implementation of logs, that may help to verify behaviour of banned characters (like: player only pass through first validation window, maybe player answered incorrectly or there was no action registered). anything that may help administration to figure out the true reason of punishment.

The only bad thing would be for those who just afk for various reasons ( others are just having something to do for a period of time, others just let their pc opened).

Should focus mostly to those who farm since this is what we want anti-bot for :D Try to focus more on that.

A bot wich is afk= useless and harmless :D and good for online count.

NC understood that very well, they even reached 6k+ online / server at GoD launch thanks to all the 'log in 25 alts, get 25x the adena reward' events.

But of course, if the gameplay (international gameplay, I mean) is shit, you can't keep these people forever.

So since mid-Ertheia, there is a legit way of earning XP/SP + some loot while being AFK (and I mean overnight AFK style). Good for online count, good for players.

online number is not such important nowadays, since most of the server used to cheat on people by multiplying the counter. i know the servers, that may offer much more pvp attempts with only a few players on, than other crap servers within 600+ online and empty zones. why? because everyone logs so many alts and keep it in town to gain auto-vote rewards or simply inject bots on farms.

Except that custom-made online announcements does not make players appear out of thin air. NC has a lot of players in Giran and Heine, and they do look like they are actually playing (not p stores or whatever).
